NEW NEVADA LAW SAYS YOU CAN END UP PAYING UP TO A $1750 IF YOU LET YOUR INSURANCE LAPSE.

Effective July 1st of 2011 there are important law changes regarding auto insurance coverage for all registered vehicles in the state of Nevada! This can affect YOU.

In Nevada you are required to maintain continuous coverage if you have a registered vehicle. Whenever there is a lapse in your insurance coverage you WILL be fined a minimum of $250 dlls. registration and reinstatement fee.

There is a new bill passed by the Nevada Senate called “Bill 323” that will be effective on July 1st, that will change this fee according to TIME LAPSE and NUMBER OF OFENSES that the person has had in having a lapse of insurance coverage.

This basically means that not having continuous insurance coverage can cost you more than having continuous insurance coverage.

Here is a small table to help explain the situation.

THE BOTTOM LINE REGARDING YOUR INSURANCE

Some people were using this law as a loop hole because if they let their insurance lapse for a year they would only pay a $250 dlls fine, which came out to be lower than having to pay insurance. This legislation has broken this loop hole, making it very expensive to let your insurance coverage lapse on your vehicle.
*** Basically this law makes it very expensive to drive without auto insurance in Nevada.
